Privacy policy

Overview

TheBookIWrote is designed so an unfinished manuscript can remain private. Version 1.0 has no developer account system, advertising, tracking, analytics SDK, manuscript server, paid AI API, or CloudKit sync. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising or profiling.

Writing data stored on your device

The app stores books, chapters, scenes, planning notes, Idea Inbox captures, version history, Story Brain records, local indexes, recordings, transcripts, export preferences, and Voice Lock guidance in its private app container on your device. The app does not upload this content to the developer.

Apple services

StoreKit purchases

Apple processes Lifetime Pro purchases and payment information. The app receives verified entitlement and transaction status needed to unlock or restore Pro. The developer may receive sales and transaction reports from Apple, but does not receive your payment-card or bank-account details.

Speech recognition

Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions are requested only when you use recording or transcription. The app requires supported on-device Apple Speech recognition and does not fall back to server transcription. Audio remains saved locally unless you delete it.

Apple Foundation Models

Supported writing-intelligence features use Apple Foundation Models on device when the device and system provide them. A conservative local fallback is used where appropriate; your manuscript is not sent to a paid AI service.

Apple processes its services under the Apple Privacy Policy.

Your controls

• Deny or revoke Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions in system Settings.
• Export your manuscript as plain text or, with Pro access, DOCX, PDF, or EPUB 3.
• Delete individual Inbox captures, recordings, scenes, chapters, or complete local projects from the app.
• Continue using the local editor without optional writing-intelligence models.

Deleting TheBookIWrote removes its local app container from that device. It does not delete copies you previously exported or device backups managed by you or Apple. Export important work before deleting the app because version 1.0 has no developer-operated recovery service.

Support communications

If you email support, the developer receives the sender address, message, and any files you deliberately attach. This information is used only to understand and respond to your request. Do not send manuscript text, audio recordings, passwords, purchase receipts, or other private writing. Support email is handled through Apple iCloud Mail under Apple’s terms.

This website and Cloudflare

This is a static Cloudflare Pages website. It uses no cookies, forms, analytics, advertising pixels, remote fonts, or account system. Cloudflare may process ordinary network and security information such as your IP address, request headers, routing data, and security events to deliver and protect the site under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Data sharing and retention

The developer does not sell writing or support data and does not share it for advertising. Local writing remains until you delete it, delete the app, or the operating system removes its local container. Support correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain a record of the resolution, or meet legal obligations.

Children and international use

TheBookIWrote is a general-purpose writing tool and is not offered as a Made for Kids app. Apple, Cloudflare, and email providers may process service data in countries other than yours under their own legal and contractual safeguards.

Changes to this policy

If a later version adds sync, analytics, a remote service, or another material data practice, this page, the in-app privacy policy, and the App Store privacy answers will be updated before that feature ships. The effective date above identifies the current policy.
